Today a traditional cultural ceremony is underway featuring drummers, singers and dancers celebrating the fourth consecutive Aboriginal Enhancement Agreement signed between the Ministry of Education, school district 72 (Campbell River) and local Aboriginal communities.

Young people considering what skills they will need for tomorrow's in-demand occupations will have an interactive, hands-on experience at WorkBC's Find Your Fit tour stop at the Southgate Middle school in Campbell River on Thursday, Jan. 8.

Advanced Education Minister Amrik Virk participated in a roundtable discussion with the Campbell River & District Chamber of Commerce following a visit to North Island College campuses in Campbell River and Comox.

As students return to class this September to advance their academic skills, École Phoenix Middle school will also be improving, as construction begins on a seismic upgrade. The upgrade is part of the government's Seismic Mitigation Program.

The government of B.C. is investing more than $662,000 in new skills training equipment at North Island College.

Campbell River resident Carly Lecuyer is a recipient of a BC Housing Education Award that will help her further her education, achieve her goals and improve her life.

A community celebration was held to celebrate the official opening of École Mer-et-montagne, a new elementary school to serve Francophone students in the Campbell River area.
