Effective at noon on Thursday, June 4, 2015, Category 2 open fires will once again be permitted in the Southeast Fire Centre due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

Since April 1, 2015, the Wildfire Management Branch has responded to 39 wildfires in the Southeast Fire Centre. Of those fires, 34 were human-caused and therefore preventable.

Effective at noon PDT on Friday, May 22, 2015, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will be prohibited in the Southeast Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

The Wildfire Management Branch will be conducting a prescribed burn near Tulip Creek in Syringa Provincial Park between March 13 and March 31, weather conditions permitting, in conjunction with BC Parks and BC Hydro's Fish and Wildlife Compensation Program.

On Monday, March 9, crews from the Southeast Fire Centre responded to four new wildfires, all of which were human-caused and therefore preventable.

The Southeast Fire Centre is asking the public to exercise caution with any outdoor burning activities, due to an increased wildfire risk in the region.

Effective at noon Pacific Time on Oct. 10, 2014, Category 3 open fires will once again be permitted in the entire Southeast Fire Centre, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

Effective at noon (PDT) on Friday, September 26, Category 2 open fires will be permitted within the Southeast Fire Centre due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

Effective at noon Pacific time on Friday, Sept. 19, 2014, open fires will be permitted within the Columbia Fire Zone due to a decreased risk of wildfires.
