The BC Wildfire Service is responding to the Beards Creek wildfire, located approximately 5 kilometres north of Parson and Hwy 95, and approximately 34 kilometres southeast of Golden.

Effective at noon Pacific time on Thursday, July 26, 2018, campfires will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre, to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect public safety.

BC Wildfire Service staff were forced to temporarily halt air operations on the Wilson Creek wildfire on Sunday, July 22, 2018, due to people operating unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs, or “drones”) above the fire.

The BC Wildfire Service is planning to burn about 25 piles of wood debris in the Slocan Valley, about three kilometres south of Silverton.

The BC Wildfire Service is planning to conduct an 8.5-hectare prescribed burn in the Keen Creek area, about 15 kilometres west of Kaslo.

Effective at noon Pacific Time on Friday, June 8, 2018, Category 3 open burns will be prohibited throughout the Southeast Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, which includes the Rocky Mountain Natural Resource District and the Selkirk Natural Resource District.
