The governments of K’ómoks First Nation (KFN), British Columbia and Canada have signed a new agreement that will advance reconciliation and treaty negotiations.

Local governments in the Comox Valley are receiving federal-provincial investments in critical clean water and wastewater infrastructure, announced Don McRae, MLA for Comox Valley on behalf of Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development Peter Fassbender.

The spotlight will be on Comox Valley, thanks to a $250,000 investment to increase and promote tourism activities in the region.

Communities in Comox Valley are receiving federal-provincial investments in key infrastructure projects.

Communities throughout the northern Vancouver Island region will benefit from one-time targeted funding of $213,149 for North Island College to support adult-literacy programs.

Students, teachers and staff at Cumberland Community school in the Comox Valley school district will benefit from $169,800 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.          

The Government of British Columbia has expanded job-protected leave for Canadian military reserve forces in B.C. to cover leave for military training.

Families in the Comox school district will benefit from improved transportation services, thanks to $421,375 in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.

As part of the public safety funding announced in the 2016 provincial budget, the Province of B.C. is committing $1.1 million in funding toward a shoreline protection and restoration project in Comox.
