Up to 36 eligible British Columbians will get skills training, in three separate intakes, to prepare them for jobs in customer service and office administration in the Lower Mainland.

Families in Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam will soon have access to 211 new licensed child care spaces as part of the Province’s ongoing commitment to increasing child care through the COVID-19 pandemic and beyond.  

Ryan Hues, a ministry child protection worker, says becoming a parent has helped him to stay “real” in his role working with families and children under 12.

həy̓χʷət kʷθə šxʷhəliʔ leləm (Healing Spirit House) officially welcomed the community to its first open house since clients moved into the state-of-the-art, Indigenous-inspired, purpose-built home of The Maples Adolescent Treatment Centre and Provincial Assessment Centre.

“The second I open my door, they are part of my family, so they know they have someone in their corner,” says Anna Miller about the 200 youth she estimates she has fostered over the past 36 years.

A new Burke Mountain elementary school and three school expansions will create 820 new spaces to get more Coquitlam students out of portables.

Eight hundred and six former youth in care are now accessing post-secondary education and skills training through the Provincial Tuition Waiver Program, an increase of 326% since government launched the program.
