New funding for value-added wood producers and manufacturing businesses in the Kootenays will protect workforces and support strong communities.

Work is underway to enhance forest resilience to protect against the effects of wildfire and climate change in the eastern Kootenay-Boundary region. 

More tree-fruit growers and their orchards will benefit from time-sensitive advice about pest management as B.C.-adapted software becomes available in the Kootenays, which will help stabilize the sector and strengthen B.C.’s food security.

Food and beverage producers will soon have more opportunities to grow their businesses while increasing food security with the development of a new food hub in Creston.

People living with disabilities now have access to nine new affordable rental homes in Creston, thanks to a partnership between the Province, the Columbia Basin Trust and the Kootenay Region Association for Community Living (KRACL).
