Proponents of the Qala-yit [Kwah-LIE-it] Community Forest are being invited to apply for a unique community forest agreement, the first community forest agreement that allows for a new form of partnership with BC Timber Sales through a reduced volume condition contained in the agreement.

The local agriculture sector will be getting a boost as five people are getting work experience as farm workers in both rural and urban settings, thanks to nearly $120,000 in government Community and Employer Partnership funding.

The Cowichan Green Community Society is looking a little greener thanks to nearly $55,000 in provincial Job Creation Partnership funding that gave three people work experience in organic horticulture.
