Work on the Holt Creek Bridge, part of the Great Trail of Canada along the Cowichan Valley Trail, is about to begin.

People travelling through south Duncan will soon have better access to additional routes as work begins to reopen Allenby Road.

Recreational trail users and others interested in the Holt Creek Bridge are invited to an information session on Monday, March 27, 2023, about a proposed bridge replacement, designed to ensure a safe and accessible trail connection between Duncan and Lake Cowichan.

The Holt Creek Trestle which acts as a bridge for pedestrians, cyclists and horseback riders along the Trans Canada Trail between Shawnigan Lake and Lake Cowichan, will be closed to the public as of Oct. 10, 2017, for rehabilitation work.

North Cowichan will receive $472,311 in BikeBC funding for the Trans-Canada Multi-Use Path, announced Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone.

Work is scheduled to begin this summer to replace the Upper Harris Bridge between Lake Cowichan and Port Renfrew, improving the safety and reliability of this Harris River crossing. The bridge is located about 30 km southeast of Lake Cowichan along the Pacific Marine Circle Route. A new two-lane structure will replace the old single-lane bridge.
