Students in the Peace River North School District will benefit from over $2.6 million in provincial funding for school upgrade projects, classroom supplies and a new school bus, Education Minister Mike Bernier announced.

Fort St. John area families are being encouraged to attend an open house on Friday, March 3, 2017, to share their ideas on how to transform rural education in British Columbia.

Construction has officially started on the new $26.6-million Margaret “Ma” Murray Community school, benefiting Fort St. John students, teachers and the community for years to come.

Students, teachers and staff at North Peace Secondary school in the Peace River North school district will benefit from $656,800 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.          

Families in the Peace River North school district will no longer pay fees for students riding school buses within their schools’ catchment areas thanks to $425,785 in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.

The Peace River North school district (SD 60) signed its second Aboriginal Education Enhancement Agreement (AEEA) to help more Aboriginal students graduate and reach their dreams and goals.

Students, teachers and the community will benefit from a new $24.8-million elementary school in Fort St. John.

Education Minister Peter Fassbender made his fourth stop on the K-12 Innovation Tour where he engaged local leaders from inside and outside the education sector on how they can support innovative learning opportunities for students in northern B.C.
