Students at Upper Halfway school in the Peace River School District are a step closer to having a gym of their own.

Students at Upper Halfway school in the Peace River North School District will soon have a gymnasium of their own.

Hundreds of students in Fort St. John are starting the school year in a new school that includes a child care centre and indoor multi-purpose rooms for community use, as Anne Roberts Young Elementary opens its doors next week.

More than 800 elementary students in the Fort St. John community will be in schools with innovative learning spaces and reduced crowding, with the grand opening of a new school and groundbreaking ceremony for another.

Children in Fort St. John will have better access to education, community services, recreation and culture, thanks to a new elementary school.

Students in the Peace River North School District will benefit from over $2.6 million in provincial funding for school upgrade projects, classroom supplies and a new school bus, Education Minister Mike Bernier announced.

Fort St. John area families are being encouraged to attend an open house on Friday, March 3, 2017, to share their ideas on how to transform rural education in British Columbia.

Construction has officially started on the new $26.6-million Margaret “Ma” Murray Community school, benefiting Fort St. John students, teachers and the community for years to come.

Students, teachers and staff at North Peace Secondary school in the Peace River North school district will benefit from $656,800 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.          

Families in the Peace River North school district will no longer pay fees for students riding school buses within their schools’ catchment areas thanks to $425,785 in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.
