People in the North will soon receive first-class care from graduates of the University of Northern British Columbia’s (UNBC) new Northern Baccalaureate Nursing Program.

Christmas is a special time for families. Married doctors Fola and Abbie Olajide are not only celebrating their first Christmas in British Columbia with their family, but also new jobs and a supportive community.

As part of the Province’s work to make sure British Columbians have access to high-quality primary care, 14 internationally-trained physicians will begin practicing in rural and remote communities in B.C. this month, including two new family doctors in Fort St. John.

The Ministry of Health, in partnership with Northern Health, is responding to an urgent need for more primary health-care resources in Fort St. John by funding three new nurse practitioners for the community's unattached patient clinic.

The countdown is on at the site of the new Fort St. John Hospital and Residential Care project. Less than three months remain until the new acute care and residential care buildings open.
