People, property and businesses in and around Grand Forks will be further protected from floodwaters with the construction of a new dike and drainage system, the latest component of the city’s flood mitigation program.

The Province, through BC Housing, and the City of Grand Forks have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) formalizing their commitment to work together to develop new housing for people in the community.

Work is underway to enhance forest resilience to protect against the effects of wildfire and climate change in the western Kootenay-Boundary region. 

Not-for-profit groups that deliver social services to people and families throughout the southern Interior are receiving support through B.C.’s Community Gaming Grants program.

The Freer family is being recognized by the Province through the Minister’s Award for Innovation and Excellence in Woodlot Management for the South.

Jennifer Rice, Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Preparedness, met with local officials from Grand Forks and the surrounding region last week as recovery work continues following the devastating flooding that hit the region in May 2018.

Under the special circumstance provision of the BC Rural Dividend Program, Community Futures Boundary and the City of Grand Forks will receive $655,799 to enhance economic development in the area.
