Effective at noon (Pacific time) on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will be permitted throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, due to a decreased risk of wildfires in the region.

People of all ages and abilities across B.C.’s interior will have more opportunities to get involved in fun, community-based sport programs during the coming year through the joint federal-provincial BC Sport Participation Program (BCSPP).

The British Columbia government is committed to keeping the public informed about wildfire activity in the province.

The BC Wildfire Service is urging the public to be more careful with fire use to reduce the risk of human-caused wildfires, which divert valuable firefighting resources away from naturally occurring wildfires.

The B.C. government has allocated another $1,059,199 in Community Resiliency Investment program grants to 11 local governments and First Nations communities in the Kamloops Fire Centre to help support wildfire risk reduction projects.

More than 100 people will get training and work experience in the forest sector, giving them opportunities for job success and improved lives, through $3.3 million in provincial government funding.
