Current weather conditions make it safer for private landowners, Wildfire Management Branch personnel and industry partners to reduce wildfire risks by burning piles of wood debris.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Oct. 15, open fires will once again be permitted in all fire zones within the Kamloops Fire Centre, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

Effective at noon (PDT) on Oct. 1, 2014, open fires will be permitted in the entire Salmon Arm Fire Zone within the Kamloops Fire Centre, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

Effective at noon on Monday, Sept. 15, open fires will be permitted in the entire Clearwater Fire Zone and areas above 1,200 metres in the Salmon Arm Fire Zone within the Kamloops Fire Centre, due to a decreased risk of wildfires.

With 152 wildfires still active in the province, the Wildfire Management Branch will welcome 85 more out-of-province fire personnel to allow B.C. firefighting crews to take mandatory days off.

With 162 wildfires still burning throughout the province and many fire crews needing to take mandatory days off, the Wildfire Management Branch will welcome 90 more out-of-province fire personnel to B.C. over the weekend.

Effective at 5 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 21, campfires will once again be permitted throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre.

As wildfire activity continues to increase throughout the province, the Wildfire Management Branch will welcome over 220 additional fire personnel on Friday and Saturday.

A contingent of specialized wildfire personnel from Australia will be coming to B.C. to assist with wildfire response.
