Minister of Jobs, Trade and Technology Bruce Ralston attended the official opening of TRUgen today and met with molecular biologists who will apply their discoveries to benefit small- and medium-sized businesses in B.C.’s Interior.

The B.C. government is taking another step towards reconciliation as the Ministry of Children and Family Development delegates child-protection authority for Métis families in the Kamloops area to Lii Michif Otipemisiwak Family and Community Services.

The Province is investing in local community-based programs to help adult learners break the barriers they face in building their futures.

Effective at 5 p.m. (Pacific time) on Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will again be allowed throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, due to a decreased wildfire risk in the region.

The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a two-hectare wildfire about two kilometres northeast of Rattlesnake Island, on the eastern shore of Okanagan Lake.

As of noon on Oct. 1, 2017, Category 2 and Category 3 open burning is allowed throughout the northern portion of the Kamloops Fire Zone (the North Prohibition Area).

Effective at noon on Sept. 22, 2017, Category 2 and Category 3 open burning prohibitions were rescinded at elevations higher than 1,200 metres in the Vernon Fire Zone and in the northern portion of the Kamloops Fire Zone (the North Prohibition Area).
