Transportation and Infrastructure Minister Todd Stone today issued the following statement on extreme conditions on the Coquihalla Highway.

McElhanney Consulting Services Ltd. has won the Deputy Minister's Consulting Engineers Award for Excellence in Construction Management and Supervision, for its exceptional work on the Highway 5/Clearwater Valley Road intersection improvement project.

ARC Asphalt Recycling Inc. has won this year's Deputy Minister's Contractor of the Year Award in the paving category, for a project on Highway 16 from Blackman Road to Red Pass and Driscoll Creek to Slim Creek, east of Prince George.

Effective immediately, travellers are advised the Monte Creek Forest Service Road, also known locally as the Private Forest Service Road, is closed until further notice at the 5.75 kilometre marker for road repairs.

Next week, the Government of B.C. will tender the contract to construct a vehicle pull-out on Highway 5A.

An agreement between the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure and the Sexqeltkemc te Secwepemc (STS) paves the way for construction to continue on the Highway 1 Monte Creek to Pritchard project.

Approximately 23 kilometres of Highway 5A will be resurfaced this summer to further increase safety and improve the ride along this corridor. The project will go to tender this week.
