Another 41 Wildfire Management Branch personnel, including two unit crews and one agency representative, are being deployed to Alberta to assist with that province’s wildfire situation.

Effective at noon on Friday, May 15, 2015, the size of open fires will be restricted throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect the public.

The Kamloops Fire Centre will continue to experience an early drying trend. The Wildfire Management Branch urges the public to be cautious with any open burning due to increased wildfire risk.

The Wildfire Management Branch is working with the Lytton First Nation to burn approximately 50 hectares of land next to the Village of Lytton, on the west side of the Fraser River.

The Thompson River steelhead fishery has been extended until Dec. 31, 2014, following confirmation of sufficient returns.
