A contingent of specialized wildfire personnel from Australia will be coming to B.C. to assist with wildfire response.

Interested members of the public are invited to complete an online survey about off-road vehicle use in the Thompson Rivers Natural Resource District until Sept. 7, 2014.

Due to an elevated wildfire risk in British Columbia, the Wildfire Management Branch has requested the assistance of over 70 additional out-of-province personnel to aid in fire suppression efforts.

As part of B.C.'s Blueprint, Thompson Rivers University (TRU) will receive funding for an additional 52 training spaces to increase access and help reduce waitlists for trades critical to the liquefied natural gas (LNG) and other industries.

In preparation to rest crews for mandatory days off and with the forecasted return to hot and dry conditions by this weekend, Wildfire Management Branch welcomed 153 more fire personnel.

An increase in fire activity around the province has prompted the Wildfire Management Branch to request the help of 200 additional fire suppression personnel from out-of-province.
