In preparation to rest crews for mandatory days off and with the forecasted return to hot and dry conditions by this weekend, Wildfire Management Branch welcomed 153 more fire personnel.

Effective at 12 noon on July 23, campfires remain prohibited in all areas of the Kamloops Fire Centre except the Clearwater Fire Zone.

Many British Columbians are on high alert this week as wildfires burn in the north and central regions of the province.

An increase in fire activity around the province has prompted the Wildfire Management Branch to request the help of 200 additional fire suppression personnel from out-of-province.

The Government of B.C. is partnering with the Thompson-Nicola Regional District to deliver a water conservation strategy and map the water and sewer systems of 12 rural communities, while providing two people with work experience.

Due to elevated wildfire activity in British Columbia, the Wildfire Management Branch has requested the assistance of over 70 out-of-province personnel to aid in fire suppression efforts.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, July 16, all campfires will be prohibited throughout the entire Kamloops Fire Centre.

The weather in the Kamloops Fire Centre will remain hot and dry for the next seven to 10 days.

The Thompson River steelhead fishery opening has been extended until Oct. 31, subject to conservation requirements.
