Families with children throughout British Columbia soon will have more help in achieving healthy lifestyles and healthy weights with $2 million to support the expansion of the free Mind, Exercise, Nutrition, Do it! (MEND) program.

BC Parks is planning to conduct an eight-hectare prescribed burn in Monck Provincial Park, northeast of Merritt, in an effort to restore the area’s ecosystem and reduce wildfire risks.

Current weather conditions allow private landowners, BC Wildfire Service personnel and industry partners to reduce wildfire risks by burning piles of wood debris.

Effective at noon on Thursday, Oct. 15, 2015, the current open burning ban will be completely rescinded within the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 15, 2015, the current open burning ban will be rescinded in the Clearwater Fire Zone and in areas above 1,200 metres in the Salmon Arm Fire Zone.

Effective at noon on Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, campfires are once again permitted throughout the Kamloops Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on Friday, July 3, 2015, all open fires - including campfires - will be prohibited throughout the entire Kamloops Fire Centre. This prohibition will remain in place until the public is otherwise notified.
