The Wildfire Management Branch is sending additional personnel to the Northwest Territories to aid in fire suppression efforts.

Effective at noon on Sunday, June 15, 2014, the current open burning ban will be expanded throughout the entire Kamloops Fire Centre to include the Salmon Arm Fire Zone and Clearwater Fire Zone.

Effective at noon on May 15, 2014, the size of open fires will be restricted in most of the Kamloops Fire Centre to help prevent human-caused wildfires and protect the public.

The Conservation Officer Service is requesting the public's assistance in their investigation into the illegal killing of nine eagles in the Kamloops area.

Since April 1, 2014, Wildfire Management Branch crews have responded to 19 fires in the Kamloops Fire Centre.

Prescribed burning is planned in the Lundbom Lake area south of Merritt between April 10 and May 16, 2014.

Smoke and flames from a controlled grass fire will be visible in the Predator Ridge area southwest of Vernon and along Highway 97 on the afternoon of Tuesday, April 1, 2014.

The Ministry of Forests, Lands and Natural Resource Operations is planning to conduct three prescribed burns in the Lillooet Fire Zone. These controlled burns are scheduled to start on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, and conclude by Friday, April 15, 2014.
