People experiencing homelessness in Kelowna will soon have access to 60 new temporary homes as part of an agreement recently announced by the Province and City of Kelowna.

The Province and the City of Kelowna have signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) that formalizes their commitment to work together to better support people who are unhoused, sheltering in encampments and to help prevent encampments in the future.

The Province is investing $6 million for drinking water and wastewater treatment projects in Kelowna and Merritt, supporting the health and safety of people and the environment.

More people in Kelowna, including families and seniors, as well as women and children leaving violence, will soon have more affordable homes to choose from as more than 180 new units open or are under construction.

People in Kelowna and area will have increased access to medical imaging with the installation of a new 3T Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) machine at Kelowna General Hospital (KGH) and the replacement of an existing 1.5T MRI machine.

More people in Rutland and surrounding Kelowna neighbourhoods will soon have increased access to team-based, everyday health care with a new urgent and primary care centre (UPCC), opening in fall 2023 at 150 Hwy. 33 W.

The Province will be holding an information session for small-flock poultry owners in Kelowna about the avian influenza virus, how they can protect flocks and how to prepare for potential effects if birds become sick.
