Students and families living in Langley’s Latimer neighbourhood will benefit from the purchase of a 1.9-hectare property to be the home of a new elementary school.

A property purchase in Langley will lay the groundwork for a new elementary school for students and families in one of the province’s fastest-growing school districts.

Students in the Langley School District will benefit from $3.6 million in provincial funding for school upgrade projects, classroom supplies and eight new school buses, MLA Mary Polak announced on behalf of Education Minister Mike Bernier.

Students, teachers and staff at four schools in the Langley school district will benefit from $305,146 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.  

Families in the Langley school district will benefit from improved transportation services, thanks to $260,000 in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.

The Province and the Langley school district are tackling rapid community growth and increasing student enrolment with more than $67 million to create more seats, classrooms and a new school for students and families in the Willoughby Slope area.

Langley Secondary school will be seismically upgraded and the Langley school district has been given the go ahead by the Ministry of Education to start planning for a new secondary school in the Willoughby Slope area.

Students and teachers at D.W. Poppy Secondary school and its feeder schools Peterson Road Elementary school and North Otter Elementary school will benefit from innovative learning concepts being put into action thanks to 15 new K-12 Innovation Partnership projects.

To further strengthen and support Aboriginal student achievement and success the Ministry of Education and School District 35 signed their third Aboriginal Education Enhancement Agreement.
