A new protected area next to the recently established Nlhaxten/Cerise Creek Conservancy will help conserve biodiversity, support traditional Indigenous land-use activities and protect cultural landmarks.

Drivers are advised that Highway 99 is currently closed approximately 15 kilometres north of Lillooet due to ongoing slope activity at the Ten Mile Slide site.

Work is underway to replace the existing single-lane Lillooet Station Bridge with a two-lane structure, increasing safety and capacity at the south entrance to the Village of Lillooet.

Premier John Horgan travelled to Big Bar, where significant work is underway by provincial and federal governments, First Nations and a suite of technical experts to help salmon in the Fraser River pass through an obstruction created by a large landslide and reach their spawning grounds.

Comments are being accepted until Aug. 23, 2019, on proposed resource objectives for Pipi7iyekw, an old-growth forest and sensitive area located in the shared territory of Lil’wat and St’at’imc Nations, in the Cascades Natural Resource District.

Under the BC Rural Dividend Program, the Government of British Columbia is providing $906,306 for seven projects in the Lillooet district.

Following Phase 1 soil anchor installation, load restrictions have been adjusted at the Ten Mile Slide site on Highway 99.
