British Columbia’s network of public electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging stations is expanding with the opening of six new stations between Cassidy, Nanaimo and Port Alberni, making it easier for people travelling highways 1, 4 and 19 to charge up their EVs.

A piece of Vancouver Island’s coal mining history will be brought back to life through a $1.4-million contribution from the British Columbia government.

The Government of British Columbia is providing $25,000 to conserve historic coal mine structures in Morden Colliery Historic Provincial Park near Nanaimo.

The Province, in partnership with the BC Lung Association, is improving air quality throughout B.C. by providing $19,750 to the Regional District of Nanaimo as part of the Provincial Wood Stove Exchange Program.

The Regional District of Nanaimo received $24,500 from the wood stove exchange program to encourage residents to trade in their smoky old wood stoves for a high-efficiency model or other clean-burning appliance, Environment Minister Terry Lake announced today.

A new apartment building that will provide 36 supportive homes for individuals at risk of homelessness is under construction in Nanaimo.
