British Columbia’s network of public electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging stations is expanding with the opening of six new stations between Cassidy, Nanaimo and Port Alberni, making it easier for people travelling highways 1, 4 and 19 to charge up their EVs.

A new housing development with 36 apartments and on-site support services for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness was officially opened in Nanaimo.

Youth aged 17-30 in Nanaimo will soon have access to new affordable housing, thanks to an accepted offer for the Nanaimo Youth Services Association to purchase a historic rooming house at 545 Haliburton St.

Pacifica Housing and Nanaimo Affordable Housing Society, in partnership with Columbian Centre Society and Haven Society, have been selected as the successful non-profit providers to develop, manage and operate two new supportive housing developments for those who are homeless or at risk of homelessness in Nanaimo.

Two Nanaimo residents are recipients of BC Housing Education Awards that will help them further their education, achieve their goals and improve their lives.

Two supportive housing developments proposed for Nanaimo will enter the next stage of the planning process with a call for Expressions of Interest (EOI) being issued on Sept. 13, 2011.
