More people have better access to healthy and nutritious food, thanks to provincial funding that is supporting food infrastructure projects throughout British Columbia.

Nanaimo families and children are benefiting from 40 new child care spaces, such as out-of-school care at the Great Futures Early Learning Centre, conveniently located near Bayview Elementary school.

British Columbia’s network of public electric vehicle (EV) fast-charging stations is expanding with the opening of six new stations between Cassidy, Nanaimo and Port Alberni, making it easier for people travelling highways 1, 4 and 19 to charge up their EVs.

Students at two Nanaimo schools will soon be safe in the event of an earthquake, with seismic upgrades coming to Cilaire and Pleasant Valley elementary schools.                    

Work will begin next week to resurface and improve intersections along a busy stretch of Highway 19A in Nanaimo, making the drive along this section of highway safer, quicker and more reliable for people.
