Families in the New Westminster school district will benefit from improved transportation services thanks to $6,073 in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.

The new state-of-the-art $20.7-million Fraser River Middle school opened its doors to hundreds of excited students on the first day of school. 

A program that helped 29 of its 36 participants find jobs in 2015 is back for a second year in the Lower Mainland, thanks to $415,000 in government funding.

Manufacturing sector representatives met with the federal and provincial governments to discuss skilled labour initiatives and human resource planning, as part of a series of roundtables being held over coming months with sectors highlighted in the BC Jobs Plan.

Young people considering what skills they will need for tomorrow's in-demand occupations had an opportunity for interactive, hands-on experience at WorkBC's Find Your Fit tour at New Westminster Secondary on April 29, 2015.
