A dedicated hospital unit for youth with mental-health and substance-use challenges will be built at the HOpe Centre at Lions Gate Hospital in North Vancouver, thanks in part to noted West Vancouver philanthropists and donors Jack and Leone Carlile.

Students and teachers at Carson Graham Secondary in North Vancouver and Rockridge Secondary and Mulgrave Independent school in West Vancouver will benefit from innovative learning concepts being put into action thanks to 15 new K-12 Innovation Partnership projects.

Capilano University is partnering with the Lil’Wat Nation to deliver the Mt. Currie Aboriginal Sustainable Employment program that will help learners obtain industry certificates such as Occupational First Aid, Workplace Hazardous Materials Information System (WHMIS) and Foodsafe.

Ground search and rescue volunteers are known for providing an outstretched hand-of-help to the lost or injured in British Columbia. The provincial government is reaching out to them and will be providing $10 million in one-time funding to help bolster training, administrative support and equipment renewals.
