The public is invited to attend a drop-in information session on Tuesday, Feb. 21, 2017, to learn more about the $36-million Mountain Highway Interchange project designed to improve safety and traffic flow on Highway 1 north of the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows crossing.

The project to improve safety and access along Highway 1 through the Lower Lynn Corridor, just north of the Ironworkers Memorial Second Narrows Crossing is moving forward with the contract now tendered for the new, $36 million Mountain Highway Interchange.

The governments of Canada and British Columbia, along with the District of North Vancouver, are investing in highway infrastructure that will improve safety, reduce congestion, enhance the lives of Canadians and help our economy prosper.

Families in the North Vancouver school district will benefit from improved transportation services, thanks to $40,566 in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.

Construction of the new Philip Avenue overpass south of West 1st Street in North Vancouver is now complete and will open to vehicle and pedestrian traffic on July 6.

As part of the public-safety funding announced in the 2016 provincial budget, the Province is committing $1.6 million in funding toward a flood mitigation project in the City of North Vancouver and the District of North Vancouver that will protect an important, business area and parkland.

Ground search and rescue volunteers are known for providing an outstretched hand-of-help to the lost or injured in British Columbia. The provincial government is reaching out to them and will be providing $10 million in one-time funding to help bolster training, administrative support and equipment renewals.
