Effective at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 18, 2019, all open fires will again be permitted throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Effective at noon Pacific time on Thursday, May 30, 2019, Category 2 open burns will be prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre's jurisdiction to reduce wildfire risks and protect public safety.

The BC Wildfire Service, in collaboration with its partners in the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, has decided to discontinue exempting the “fog zone” when it implements open fire prohibitions on Vancouver Island.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 19, 2018, all open burning will once again be allowed throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on Sept. 11, 2018, campfires will once again be allowed throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Aug. 8, 2018, the existing campfire ban in the Coastal Fire Centre will be expanded to include Haida Gwaii.

As of noon on July 25, 2018, Category 2 and Category 3 open burning will be prohibited in Haida Gwaii, although campfires will still be allowed there.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, July 18, 2018, all open burning (including campfires and Category 3 fires) will be prohibited within the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, with the exception of Haida Gwaii and the area known as the fog zone.

Effective at noon on Friday, May 18, 2018, Category 2 open burns will be prohibited throughout the Coastal Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, with the exception of the Haida Gwaii Natural Resource District and the “Fog Zone”.
