The world is changing and B.C. students need to be ready to adapt to the careers of tomorrow. Students in the Okanagan Skaha School District will be prepared thanks to $22,500 in provincial funding awarded to the district, helping to connect kids with opportunities in skilled trades and tech training. 

The B.C. government has distributed $88,704 in compensation for municipal property taxes to the City of Penticton.

Four school districts in the region will receive a combined $80,000 in funding for the Youth Work in Trades program to boost trades training for young people.

Students, teachers and staff at Uplands Elementary school in the Okanagan – Skaha school district will benefit from $530,000 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.          

Students at 15 public post-secondary institutions throughout British Columbia, including Okanagan College, will benefit from $6.1 million in funding for new industry-standard trades training equipment.

Under the BC Rural Dividend, the Province is providing $140,000 to the communities of Summerland and Peachland, Penticton MLA Dan Ashton announced.

Families in the Okanagan-Skaha school district will benefit from improved transportation services thanks to $167,035 in funding under the new provincial Student Transportation Fund.

The Province has announced changes that will allow businesses with only outdoor patio seating to apply to offer liquor service, a move that will create new opportunities for small businesses and support increased consumer choice.

Individuals in Penticton who are at risk of homelessness will soon have access to a new affordable rental housing option with the recent purchase of a 42-unit motel.
