Wildlife habitat on northern Vancouver Island is better protected today following the establishment of the Quatse Estuary Wildlife Management Area.

Environment Minister Terry Lake today toured the construction site of the 99-megawatt Cape Scott Wind Farm project located 40 kilometres west of Port Hardy.

A more efficient permitting system has allowed construction to begin sooner on the Cape Scott Wind Farm, bringing hundreds of jobs to northern Vancouver Island.

Upland Excavating Ltd. of Campbell River has been awarded a $1.5-million contract to rebuild the Dick Booth Culvert on Holberg Rd. west of Port Hardy. The culvert was washed out during flooding last September.
