More parents in northeast B.C. will see dramatic savings as five child care sites are welcomed into the $10 a Day child care program.

Families at the YMCA Highland Development Centre are now paying no more than $200 a month per child as part of the B.C. government’s universal child care prototype project.

In response to concerns highlighted in the media this week about young people frequenting a known drug house in Prince George, the Ministry of Children and Family Development wants to assure the community that it continues to work closely with local RCMP, including the high-risk youth section, to ensure vulnerable youth in the area are connected to supportive community services and safe home environments.

Tomorrow is Fetal Alcohol Syndrome Disorder (FASD) Prevention and Support Day in B.C. and community events are taking place in Prince George to help raise awareness about the disorder and the struggles that families living with FASD go through every day.
