All area restriction orders that were in effect in the Prince George Fire Centre have been rescinded.

Effective at noon on Wednesday, Sept. 12, 2018, Category 2 and Category 3 open burning will once again be allowed throughout the Prince George Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Due to reduced fire activity and recent progress made by firefighting crews, the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) has rescinded the area restriction order for areas around the Sakeniche wildfire.

An area restriction order is now in place for Crown Land in the vicinity of the Island Lake and Cheslatta Lake wildfires, about 30 kilometres south west of Fraser Lake.

Effective at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, campfires were again allowed in the Fort Nelson Forest District and Peace Forest District.

Effective at 8 a.m. (Pacific time) on Tuesday, Aug. 28, 2018, the BC Wildfire Service is rescinding an area restriction order for Crown land in the vicinity of the Hugh Allen Creek wildfire, due to reduced fire activity and progress made by firefighting crews.

Effective at 8 a.m. (Pacific Time) on Monday, Aug. 27, 2018, an area restriction order will be in place for Crown land in the vicinity of the Shovel Lake wildfire.

Effective at 8 a.m. (Pacific Time) on Sunday, Aug. 26, 2018, an area restriction order will be in place for Crown Land in the vicinity of the Sakeniche wildfire.

In just over a year and a half, the new intercommunity transit service along Highway 16 has provided safe, affordable travel for approximately 12,000 passengers in northern B.C.
