People in Prince Rupert experiencing homelessness will have a home to call their own soon, as the Province starts construction on 36 units of supportive housing that will provide people with access to safe and secure homes with 24/7 supports.

In partnership with the City of Prince Rupert and North Coast Transition Society, the Province is responding to a growing need for supportive housing, and is moving ahead with 36 units of modular housing at 1450 Park Ave., with construction to begin this summer.

Under the BC Rural Dividend Program, the Government of British Columbia is providing $268,600 to the District of Kitimat, Ecotrust Canada and the Kitsumkalum Indian Band for three projects, Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Preparedness and North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice announced today, on behalf of Doug Donaldson, Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development.

As part of its rural development mandate, the Government of British Columbia is providing $30,000 to Lax Kw’alaams Business Development, Metlakatla Development Corporation and the Central Coast Regional District, Jennifer Rice, Parliamentary Secretary for Emergency Preparedness and MLA for North Coast, announced today.
