Local governments in Quesnel and Wells are receiving federal-provincial investments in critical clean water and wastewater infrastructure, announced MLA Coralee Oakes for Cariboo North on behalf of Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development Peter Fassbender.

Forty-three job seekers, including former employees who were affected by sawmill closures in Quesnel and surrounding areas, are receiving training for jobs in their communities, thanks to support from the federal and provincial governments.

Building on the economic benefits and jobs created by getting to yes on major projects and provincial investments in infrastructure, Cariboo North MLA Coralee Oakes announced immediate investments and a long-term action plan outlined in B.C.’s rural economic development strategy that will create jobs and economic opportunities in Cariboo North.

Students in the Quesnel School District are packing their bags and traveling to other B.C. communities for enhanced skills, technical, and trades training opportunities thanks to $5,000 for the school district from the Province’s Skills Training Access Grant.

The B.C. government is funding 10 extreme weather shelter spaces in Quesnel this winter to help people whose health and safety may be threatened by cold, wet weather.

Students, teachers and staff at Riverview Elementary school in the Quesnel school district will benefit from $279,400 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.  

The B.C government will increase the maximum guarantee limit to $15 million for two popular loan guarantee programs for the B.C. ranching industry.

To help rural schools in British Columbia stay open, Premier Christy Clark announced a new Rural Education Enhancement Fund.

More students in B.C.’s north will connect with the skills and experience they need for the jobs of the future through an expanded $4.9-million Shoulder Tappers program.
