Skilled trades students in School District 38 will benefit from a three-year, $15-million investment by the B.C. government to support youth trades programs with the purchase of new trades training equipment.

The B.C. government and the Richmond School District are taking action to improve student safety and support student learning by investing $14 million to upgrade William Cook Elementary school. 

Parents in Richmond and the Lower Mainland can mark Wednesday, Feb. 8, 2017, on their calendars to share their thoughts on student progress reporting, including report cards.

As of Jan. 16, 2017, British Columbians looking to purchase their first home can apply to the B.C. Home Owner Mortgage and Equity Partnership program, which helps first-time homebuyers create secure and stable futures for their families through home ownership.

Students in the Richmond School District are connecting with skills and technology training development thanks to a $17,500 grant to the district from the Province’s Shoulder Tappers Program.

School District 38 in Richmond will receive $40,000 in funding for the Youth Work in Trades program to boost trades training for young people in the province.

Up to 300 low-income co-op households will benefit from the B.C. government’s $2 million in assistance to make their homes more affordable. This funding will bridge the shortfall resulting from expired federal operating agreements.

Richmond Multicultural Community Services (RMCS) will receive $4,500 in funding to help challenge racism and celebrate diversity. This organization is among 33 community groups throughout British Columbia working to address racism through the B.C. Organizing Against Racism and Hate (OARH) program.

Students, teachers and staff at École Côte Du Soleil in the Conseil Scolaire Francophone school district will benefit from $151,540 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.

Students, teachers and staff at R.C. Talmey Elementary school in the Richmond school district will benefit from $330,000 in provincial School Enhancement Program funding.
