Students and staff in Richmond will soon have safer classrooms after Diefenbaker Elementary school is rebuilt to the latest seismic safety standards.

For the first time, BC Hydro will provide rebates for the installation of rooftop solar and battery-storage systems, making it easier for people and businesses to generate their own electricity, reduce their energy bills and deliver clean energy back to the electricity grid.

New projects funded by the Province in partnership with coastal communities and Indigenous Peoples will clean as much as 1,000 kilometres of B.C.’s coastline, remove as many as 30 derelict vessels and support local jobs.

Thousands of kilograms of debris, including styrofoam, plastic bottles, nets, rope, abandoned boats and tires, have been removed from B.C.’s shoreline as several Clean Coast, Clean Waters (CCCW) projects wrap up their operations.

On Saturday, Sept. 21, 2019, on shorelines throughout the province, British Columbians will gather to clean up debris and help tackle plastic pollution.

Richmond-based IRDI Systems will receive $55,000 to further develop B.C.’s clean energy vehicle (CEV) sector, create good jobs and support low-carbon innovation.
