Nearly 1,800 Richmond students in kindergarten to Grade 12 are starting the school year in four seismically safer schools.

More than 25,000 B.C. students will soon be learning in safe schools, with seismic upgrades coming to Maple Lane and James McKinney elementary schools in Richmond.

Students at three Richmond elementary schools are benefiting from new playgrounds that encourage active learning and healthy lifestyles.

More classrooms and a seismically safer school will give F.A. Tomsett Elementary students a better learning experience by 2022.

To ensure B.C. students graduate with the skills, competencies and confidence needed to succeed in post-secondary education and the workforce, the Province is hosting a careers summit to hear valuable input from employers, education partners, post-secondary institutions and students.

Students at Manoah Steves Elementary will have a safer school in case of an earthquake with seismic upgrades and a partial replacement now approved.

For the first time, representatives of B.C.’s public, independent and First Nations schools, police, health authorities, and child and youth mental-health workers have come together under one roof, focused on how to make life better for students struggling with mental-health issues.  

Families in Richmond can look forward to safer schools, as the Ministry of Education and the Richmond School District are implementing a plan to accelerate seismic mitigation projects.
