The British Columbia government is providing $235,000 to support three community projects in Salmon Arm, announced Minister of Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development Doug Donaldson today.

The B.C. government is providing $61,600 to three organizations to help manage invasive plants in the Shuswap and Okanagan regions.

Under the BC Rural Dividend, the Province is providing $32,000 to the Columbia Shuswap Regional District, Shuswap MLA Greg Kyllo announced.

Travellers are advised that the 1100 Forest Service Road in the Seymour Arm area will be closed at the 14.7-kilometre mark from Monday, May 26 through Wednesday, June 25, 2014, while a bridge over the Seymour River is replaced.

Twenty-one members of the Korean Forest Service will arrive in Salmon Arm on Oct. 2 to learn wildfire investigation techniques from B.C.'s expert firefighters.

Travellers are advised the Scotch Creek Forest Service Road (FSR) will be temporarily closed at the 12.5-kilometre marker from Monday, Sept. 16 to Wednesday, Oct. 16, 2013, due to a bridge upgrade.

A group of 25 members of the Korean Forest Service have arrived in Salmon Arm to learn wildfire investigation techniques and take advantage of the expertise of B.C.'s Wildfire Management Branch crews.

As part of a Fire Investigation training course, Wildfire Management Branch will be conducting a series of small controlled burns during the week of Oct. 3 just northeast of Silver Creek.

Earlier this month, provincial and federal agencies joined forces to inspect and patrol Shuswap Lake for compliance with B.C.'s boating and fishing regulations.
