This weekend’s weather forecast is calling for a warming and drying trend and above-seasonal temperatures in northern areas of the province, so the BC Wildfire Service is encouraging members of the public to exercise caution with any campfires and outdoor burning.

The Northwest Fire Centre is encouraging the public to exercise caution with any outdoor burning activities this spring, due to an increased wildfire risk.

Effective at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 11, 2015, open burning will once again be permitted throughout the Northwest Fire Centre’s jurisdiction.

Effective at noon on Tuesday, Aug. 4, 2015, Category 2 and Category 3 open fires will once again be allowed within the Northwest Fire Centre’s jurisdiction, with the exception of the Nadina Fire Zone.

Effective at noon on Wednesday July 22, 2015, campfires will once again be allowed throughout the Northwest Fire Centre's jurisdiction.

The BC Wildfire Service is responding to a one-hectare wildfire in the community of Cedarvale, about 46 kilometres southwest of Hazelton.
