British Columbia’s deputy chief forester has set the new allowable annual cut (AAC) level for Tree Farm Licence 38 (TFL) located northwest of Squamish.

The Province, in partnership with Lil’wat Nation and Coast to Cascades Grizzly Bear Initiative, is taking action to protect grizzly bears by closing two resource roads in the Upper Lillooet and Birkenhead River areas.

The British Columbia government is reminding everyone that it is illegal to build trails on Crown land without prior authorization.

As part of its rural development mandate, the Government of British Columbia is providing a total of $40,000 for four projects in Squamish, Pemberton and Lillooet, Forests, Lands, Natural Resource Operations and Rural Development Minister Doug Donaldson announced today.

Recreational users are advised that the Keyhole Falls hot springs and trail are closed until further notice to all visitors, due to increased wildlife conflicts caused by recreational users.

Effective Nov. 17, 2016, new scenic area and visual quality objectives have been established, under the Forest and Range Practices Act, in the Shannon Creek watershed portion of the Sea to Sky Natural Resource District.

BC Wildfire Service crews will be conducting a series of controlled pile burns in the Squamish area in October to remove logging debris and reduce the risk of wildfires in the area.

Recreational users are advised that the Pebble Creek/Keyhole Falls hot springs trail is closed until further notice to all visitors, due to the presence in the area of numerous aggressive black bears and grizzly bears with cubs.

British Columbians are invited to comment on a proposed amendment to a scenic-area boundary on Crown land in the Sea to Sky Natural Resource District until July 20, 2016.
