A Surrey child-care centre will hold a grand opening today at its new building - a beautifully restored heritage house with a new sandbox for building sandcastle masterpieces, a jungle gym for young acrobats to perform and giant cedar trees for playing hide and go seek.

Surrey has been identified as one of seven communities to participate in a pilot project where poverty reduction strategies will target the unique needs of families struggling to get out of poverty.

Tomorrow is Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder (FASD) Prevention and Support Day in B.C. and several community events are taking place in Surrey to help raise awareness about the disorder and the struggles that families living with FASD go through every day.
