Under the BC Rural Dividend, the Province is providing $10,000 in a new grant to the Tumbler Ridge Global Geopark (TRGG) Society.

Three months after reopening the Brule Mine, Conuma Coal Resources Ltd. (Conuma Coal) has started hiring ahead of its planned Jan. 2, 2017, restart of the Wolverine Mine near Tumbler Ridge.

This fall, responsibility for the operation and maintenance of Murray Forest Service Road near Tumbler Ridge will be transferred to the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, announced MLA for Peace River South Mike Bernier on behalf of Minister Todd Stone.

A $270,000 project in Tumbler Ridge is providing work experience and creating better recreation sites for residents and tourists.

To help mature workers in Tumbler Ridge get the training and support they need for future jobs, the Government of Canada and the Province of British Columbia will provide more than $100,000 to Northern Lights College to deliver the Targeted Initiative for Older Workers (TIOW) program.

Northern Lights College will receive a $150,000 grant to support workers affected by the suspension of Tumbler Ridge regional coal mines.

Bill Bennett was joined by MLA Mike Bernier, members of the community, and representatives of the energy business community to launch construction of the $400-million Meikle Wind Energy Project.
