The Province is taking several early steps to prepare for the wildfire and drought season, including working proactively with local governments and First Nations to help keep people and communities safe and informed.

More people in Vancouver, such as families, seniors and people living with disabilities, now have access to 82 new affordable rental homes with the opening of The Aster.

Cancer patients affected by certain advanced leukemias and lymphomas now have better access to Chimeric Antigen Receptor T-Cell (CAR-T) therapy closer to home, as the therapy becomes available in the province.

Young people experiencing homelessness in Vancouver and struggling with mental-health and addictions challenges will get better access to care and supports to help them find a pathway to recovery and a better life. 

To continue building on the commitments made at the signing of the Nurses’ Bargaining Association (NBA) collective agreement in April 2023, the Province and BC Nurses’ Union (BCNU) have made significant progress determining minimum nurse-to-patient ratios.

As part of Budget 2024 measures that will increase supply and make homes more affordable and accessible, the Province is taking action against speculators and those who profit from “flipping” homes.

BC Builds, the Province’s new initiative to build more housing for people with middle incomes, will benefit from $2 billion in additional financing from the Government of Canada to help deliver thousands more homes that people with middle incomes who live and work in B.C. can afford.
