The new $19.7-million Crosstown Elementary school officially opened today, creating more classroom space for the rapidly growing city centre and providing students with a unique urban learning environment. 

Students in the Vancouver School District will benefit from $5.1 million in provincial funding for school upgrade projects and new classroom supplies, MLA Suzanne Anton announced on behalf of Education Minister Mike Bernier.

Each and every one of British Columbia’s 5,676 new students will be funded, thanks to an extra $46.7 million that will flow to school districts with increased enrolments this school year.

The British Columbia Teachers’ Council’s 2015-2016 annual report, released by the Ministry of Education, highlights key progress by the organization in its work to review the education, competence and conduct standards for educators in B.C.’s K-12 system

The world is changing and B.C. students need to be ready to adapt to the careers of tomorrow. Students in the North Vancouver and West Vancouver school districts will be prepared thanks to provincial funding awarded to the districts, helping to connect kids with opportunities in skilled trades and tech training. 

Students in the Vancouver School District are connecting with skills and technology training development thanks to a $17,500 grant to the district from the Province’s Shoulder Tappers Program.

More than 60 teachers from the Lower Mainland gathered at the Microsoft Centre of Excellence in downtown Vancouver to learn basic coding techniques from some of the best instructors in the industry – all to make sure B.C. students have the skills they need to succeed in today’s changing world.
