The Province of British Columbia is proud to contribute to the HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series stop in Vancouver this weekend by providing $245,000 for broadcast production and hosting of the event.

In recognition of the importance of arts and culture to the overall economy and quality of life in British Columbia, the B.C. government announced a provincial strategy to help grow this thriving sector.

The Government of British Columbia wrapped up the Year of Sport in spectacular fashion by congratulating the hundreds of athletes who competed on behalf of their province and their country.

The Small Communities Fund will accept applications for $90 million in support for infrastructure before the end of this year, Premier Christy Clark announced at the Union of British Columbia Municipalities annual convention.

All British Columbians deserve to feel safe in their homes and neighbourhoods. Investments in the provincial anti-gang strategy, community safety and policing have been successful in driving down crime in B.C. – with youth and violent crime at historical lows – but more needs to be done.

The Union of BC Municipalities annual convention was held in Vancouver, B.C. September 21-25 at the Vancouver Convention Centre. More than 1,800 delegates attended the annual event that included workshops, clinics, resolution and debates, as well as speeches from the Premier, Minister of Community, Sport and Cultural Development Minister and the Leader of the Opposition.
