Building on the economic benefits and jobs created by getting to yes on major projects and provincial investments in infrastructure, Vernon-Monashee MLA Eric Foster announced immediate investments and a long-term action plan outlined in B.C.’s rural economic development strategy that will create jobs and economic opportunities in Vernon-Monashee.

The upcoming construction season will bring safer travelling conditions to an important route linking the Okanagan to West Kootenay, as two projects get underway on Highway 6.

A new MRI machine is coming to Vernon Jubilee Hospital to help increase patient access to MRI services, and is expected to be in place in 2018.

Downtown Vernon will become a little more vibrant and safe thanks to a government-funded Job Creation Partnerships “Place-Making” project, which will aid in the planning, design and engagement of public spaces.

The world is changing and B.C. students need to be ready to adapt to the careers of tomorrow. Students in the Vernon School District will be prepared thanks to $22,500 in provincial funding awarded to the district, helping to connect kids with opportunities in skilled trades and tech training. 

Individuals transitioning out of temporary shelters in Vernon now have access to 39 units of affordable rental housing at the newly-opened Blair Apartments.

Up to 60 British Columbians in Vernon and surrounding areas are receiving the training they need for jobs in their communities, thanks to the federal-provincial partnership under the Canada-B.C. Job Fund Agreement.

The B.C. government has distributed $100,897 in compensation for municipal property taxes to the City of Vernon.
