The governments of Canada and British Columbia continue to invest in local infrastructure during this unprecedented time to meet the needs of communities across the province, enhance people’s quality of life, and support economic recovery from COVID-19. 

Drivers are advised that Highway 97 is closed to traffic in both directions between Salmon River Road and Monte Creek (62-kilometre stretch).

To ensure public safety, the South Fork Forest Service Road, near Cherryville, is closed to all vehicle traffic until further notice, due to concerns about the stability of the road bed and washouts, as well as damage to the Yeoward Creek Bridge.

A new median barrier separating northbound and southbound traffic will be installed along a stretch of Highway 97 in Vernon, improving safety for motorists by preventing cross-over incidents.

Pedestrians and motorists are advised that preload construction work on the Highway 97 - Stickle Road intersection safety improvement project will get underway after the British Columbia Day long weekend.

Vernon Regional Airport will receive $823,700 in funding from the B.C. Air Access Program this year for runway rehabilitation, announced MLA for Vernon-Monashee Eric Foster on behalf of Minister of Transportation and Infrastructure Todd Stone.
